Merry, Me and Creativity
Merry, Me and Creativity
This title for a potential autobiography about my life and my various passions came to me in 1978 or 79 while driving up AIA along the Atlantic Ocean coast on the way to Palm Beach when I was working with S&T. The feeling of joy overcame me that morning and I had to pull over to the side of the road and sit for awhile...
Merry, Me & CPSI (a brief history of our connection with CPSI)
John Lampland
Gosh, it seems like one of your earlier visits to CPSI could have been part of your honeymoon. Thanks for honoring us all with the presence of both of you, several times over, at that. Warm holiday wishes, Alan!

Merry and I met in two masters degree classes while working on M.Ed in Guidance and Counseling. Her focus was on Dieting & Eating Disorders. Mine was on work with Gifted, Talented and Creative students and adults.
We met in the Spring of 1978.
I went to CPSI first in 1978 thanks to Bob Eberle's strong recommendation that I do.
We were married December 23, 1978.
We jokingly called the week-long Springboard session we went to in January 1979 in Ft. Lauderdale as our HONEYMOON. Ruth Noller, Cam Barth, Bob Barnet, Leroy Schneider, Lallo Badall and an advertising man were the leaders.
I had met Ruth at CPSI in June 1978 and re-met her in Ft. Lauderdale and asked her how I could become a CPSI Leader.
March of 1979 we traveled to Trinidad-Tobago so that I could attend Lallo Badall's CPSI in T-T. Ruth Noller and Bob Johnston were the presenters and I was the only non-islander. Merry and Jessica played while I was attending the workshop.
Ruth invited me to the Leaders Program in June 1979
(long story, missing details). Merry attended CPSI that June as an Extending Participant. In 1980 when I was an Extending Leader for the first time Merry was in the CPSI Leader Training Program (that preceded LDP and FCL which happened years later).
We were both committed to CPSI.
In 1998, the year Merry died in April, she was given her Colleague Pin for 5 years during the Leaders' Weekend Celebration.
CPSI has been a major part of my life since 1978.
In 1992 Merry returned as a co-leader with me
when we did a STORYTELLING as Creative Thinking Tools. Almost 2 dozen CPSI leaders attended our session.
1993 she was invited as Leader on her own.
1998 would have been her 5th year. Bill Shephard honored my request to honor her with the CPSI Colleague PIN in 1998.
